In today’s news, Ireland provides educational support for children in humanitarian crisis, toxic algal bloom in Southern California, USA, harms animal-people, Iraq launches its first power plant fueled by municipal waste, study in United States finds digital device use may protect senior citizens from cognitive decline and dementia, artist in Togo turns her love of art into puppets using recycled materials, Switzerland’s new nutritional strategy focuses on vegan diet, and long-captive moon bear-person in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam, gets first taste of freedom.
I love teaching my kids little DIY survival tricks. Here is one for you on how to make a portable stove. Start by making wood shavings by placing a stick into a power drill and turning it slowly in a pencil sharpener. Alternatively, you can use sawdust. Next, fill a small can halfway with the wood shavings and stir in some melted unscented candle wax. The shavings will absorb the wax and serve as a wicking material, allowing it to burn from one and a half to two hours. It’s versatile and can be used as a portable cooking stove, a fire starter, or an emergency heater.
It’s now time to make yourself comfortable on the laugh lounger and listen to the joke of the day. This one’s called “Automated Prompt.”
A man called a department store to speak to someone, but was greeted by an automated phone system:
“If you are calling to order or pay for an item, please press 5. If you are calling to register a complaint, please press 645983482#*#. Have a good day.”
