In today’s news, Switzerland works with United Nations Children’s Fund to help address water crisis in Jordan. South Korean study estimates number of lives lost due to fine dust air pollution, Australia passes major bill overhauling environmental protection laws, UK unveils worldwide initiative to combat violence against women and girls, US volunteer grandmothers share life advice with those in need of counsel Finnish startup debuts fava-based protein at leading global food ingredients event, and coastal communities in Angola and India protect vulnerable sea turtle-people to help species recover.

I’d like to share a magical scientific way on how you can make a simple compass: First, carefully take a sewing needle and rub it on your hair for approximately 30–40 times to build up static electricity. This will create a small magnetic charge to the needle. Next, find a small leaf that will float and cautiously lay the needle on it. Fill a bowl of water and let your needle-bearing leaf-boat float on it. You will see the boat slowly revolve by itself and orient in a north-south position. This occurs because the magnetized needle acts within Earth’s magnetic field, resembling a real compass. This is a great way to teach your kids about navigation, magnetism, and nature while having fun!

Laughter is good for health, so we chose a joke of the day for you called, “Just Literally.”

Gavin’s back seized up, so he went to a chiropractic office near his house.

“I’m a minister, and my back is in too much pain to deliver my sermons.”

The receptionist asked him to wait a moment while she summoned assistance. Then, over the office intercom, she announced:

“Anyone available? We’ve got a minister at the reception desk who can’t stand to preach!”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Arabic, with multiple-language subtitles, from Zahra in Saudi Arabia
