The Three Sisters were essential for the survival of Indigenous people and early European settlers. Research has shown that planting the (three) sisters together results in a yield increase of up to 30%, compared to planting them separately. Our Three Sisters garden, that’s the corn, beans, and squash, and they have a symbiotic relationship. First, you plant the corn, and then, when the corn is up about six inches high, then you plant your beans, and they climb up the corn stalk, so they grow together.
