Plant proteins are perfectly suitable for a healthy vegan lifestyle. Here is a tip on how you can make a high protein crispy salt and vinegar air-fried tofu. Cube one block of drained, extra firm tofu and then add it to a bowl. Pour 1 tablespoon of your choice of oil and 3 tablespoons of apple cider or culinary vinegar over the tofu. Combine everything together by shaking the bowl or mixing with a spatula. Add 1 teaspoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder on top of the tofu and shake or toss again to combine, adjusting these spices to suit your preference. Lastly add in 1 tablespoon of arrowroot starch or cornstarch and then toss or shake. Repeat this step with another 1 tablespoon of arrowroot starch or cornstarch. Allow the tofu to sit for about 5-10 minutes to give the vinegar time to absorb into the tofu. Place the tofu into your air fryer in an even layer and air fry it for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit). At the halfway point, shake the tofu once. Bon appétit!
