Aulacese (Vietnamese) woman Ms. Sáu (vegetarian) visited hell for three days, met the king of the underworld, and now shares an urgent message for the living world.
Six years ago, Ms. Sáu, a Buddhist practitioner, fell into a strange unconscious state for three days and nights. In this deep “sleep,” she did not dream but awoke in hell.
A boy of about 10 years old guided her through the realms of the underworld. Whenever she had questions, a young man around age 25 appeared beside her to explain clearly. She was told this guidance only comes to true spiritual practitioners. Everything felt vivid and real, and she remembered each detail.
Ms. Sáu saw a vast lake at the foot of a mountain filled with countless souls drowning and crying out in torment. Among them, she found her own mother, who pleaded with her to save her. Choking back tears, she asked why her mother was there. Her mother confessed that when she died, she still held onto resentment and hatred after being mistreated in life. Because of that hatred, she was cast down into suffering. From this, Ms. Sáu learned an eternal lesson: those who die harboring anger and hatred fall instantly into hell.
Ms. Sáu then saw her father had a better fate: Before his death, someone urged him to chant the Buddha (vegan)’s name. He managed ten chants before passing, and in that moment of sincere faith, he was saved and taken to a blessed realm.
Another woman, Ms. Út Đại, who observed vegetarian days four times a month and made daily offerings, was also lifted by golden Light into salvation. She asked Ms. Sáu to remind her family to offer only vegetarian food, not animal-people meat. Other spirits repeated the same advice: During ancestral rites, one should offer vegetarian food only. They also said not to burn paper money, houses or cars—none of these are useful to the dead. Instead, dedicate merit through charity and good deeds.
Ms. Sáu learned that hell has no fixed sentence of years. Souls remain until they repent and transform their karma. When the living practice goodness, chant, or dedicate merit, souls can draw on that power to escape. The young guide explained that many souls have suffered in hell for millennia. Yet when virtuous practitioners dedicate their merits selflessly, even entire groups of souls may be pardoned and released into higher realms. He said former kings and great monks who once loved and protected their people become Divine beings after death. They can travel the created worlds and plead for mercy on behalf of suffering souls. Ms. Sáu learned that a true practitioner who cultivates compassion and sincerely keeps the Five Precepts— non-killing, non-stealing, non-lying, non-sexual misconduct, and non-intoxication— can save both themselves and their entire family line.
In another part of hell, Ms. Sáu saw people who once forced rooster-people to fight now forced to fight endlessly themselves. Others who wasted food, broke promises, or acted with cruelty also endured punishments that matched their deeds.
Ms. Sáu remembered she had once promised to ferry someone across a river for a single penny but never showed up. Later, out of spite, Ms. Sáu threw the penny away. Afterward, she suffered years of financial misfortune. She suddenly realized during her visit to hell that even small broken promises create heavy karma.
Since age 30, Ms. Sáu has heard the scolding voice of an old woman no one else can see. She would strike her mouth at night if Ms. Sáu cursed, or rebuke her instantly if she spoke harshly, driving Ms. Sáu to become vegetarian and stop quarreling with others. In 2024, the voice intensified, saying the Holy Savior was coming soon and if Ms. Sáu failed to cultivate virtue, she would fall into hell for 10,000 years. This prompted Ms. Sáu to practice more diligently.
Finally, Ms. Sáu met the King of hell. He told her to return with a message: people must keep the Five Precepts. Anyone who keeps them will not be punished, even if they come to hell. Instead, He would welcome them, offer them tea, and send them back. But those who break the Precepts, even kings, must suffer judgment. The King of hell emphasized: compassion, goodness, and moral discipline are the true ticket out of hell.
Ms. Sáu’s final advice is: + Do not burn paper money or material goods for the dead. + Offer vegetarian food, do good deeds, chant Buddha’s name, and recite Pure Land Buddhism’s prayer for universal salvation. + Whoever truly practices, knows how to repent, and keeps the Five Precepts, can save his or her entire family. + A person who attains enlightenment can open the gates of hell and help countless suffering souls (Thích Lang Thang)
