In 2016 Mr. Dion Leonard entered a 155-mile (250-km), seven-day ultramarathon in the Gobi Desert of China. The race was grueling, so he was surprised on the second day when a small dog began running alongside him. “Throughout the 77 miles (124 km) that she ran of the race, she could have gone off at any stage, but she didn’t.
