Especially the royal members in Africa, they are always obliged to learn some magical power or some inner connection with God to some degree. So they know, or at least their teacher knows, who the company they are having is. If they don’t know, they just call their teacher, and say, “Please look for me. Who is with me? The Lady, who is She? She doesn’t say anything. Please look.” And then they know immediately. And they just tell me everything. What I do and how high level and… anything, anything, anything. If you were there, you would [be] shocked, you would think he is one of the Masters or one of the disciples. On some level.

So, after he had all the information from me, he wanted initiation. Just alone, from nowhere. Everybody in my group knows that, because nobody said… they just call me “Madame.” Not Master, not teacher, nothing, nothing. Just “Madame.” But he knew, and then he asked for initiation. So, the whole group was very amused, including myself, very amused by the event. I’m coming to the conclusion right now. It’s a long way to Africa. I’m sorry. It goes a long way. So, be patient. It will be coming. We’ll arrive in Munich soon.

So, we went around in the country meanwhile for a few days to see the orphans and the Mother Teresa’s mission, and we donated something in our capacity. And after that, we saw the First Lady of the land. Most of the people in the government, like the President, the First Lady, they all knew something. So, when I came, they knew who was coming. So, the first day of my arrival, they already sent people at 9 o’clock to fetch me. I didn’t even ask for anything yet. They came and said, “Please, come to us.” The first day! Normally, if you want to see the First Lady or the President, oh, maybe it’d take you another election. But this went fast. So quick.

OK, but then, unfortunately, that day, because I had my door closed and I meditated inside, and the prince was very polite. He didn’t know; he thought I’m sleeping. So he said to the First Lady, “No, no can do. She’s sleeping. Next day, next time.” So that’s why I had to come to see her next, three days later, because then came the weekend and then Monday, so it’s three days later. And then it happened that the planes to Paris [are] only twice a week – Monday or Friday. So, if we don’t go on Monday, we have to wait until Friday. We had to go to France first. At that time, we did not know there is Air Afrique, which also goes to France, because we are strangers in the land and we tried to find out everything by ourselves. We didn’t know. So, everybody panicked and wanted to change the time to see the First Lady, but she could not make it as it’s so fast. So, we had to stay [until] 9 o’clock in the evening. We had to keep the appointment, the first appointment, 9 o’clock in the evening. Nine o’clock, and you still can see the First Lady! So, even so late, she received us. But that is not the point; that’s not the point.

We wanted to change the appointment time but it could not be done. And then we were all planning like, “OK, then we have to go,” things like that. And the prince also felt that, OK, we are the guests. If we want to go, we go. The First Lady should understand our problem. And because we have people waiting in Paris and we wanted to see you. If we kept hanging around in Africa, what else could we do? So we wanted, the whole group wanted to come earlier. But it wasn’t possible with the First Lady changing the time. And then the Prince said, “Never mind, then you go,” things like that. But I said, “No, I already promised to see her at 9 o’clock.” There’s a complication. So I had to see her, doesn’t matter at what cost. Because the whole group is all Taiwanese (Formosans) and Hong Kongese and all that, so everybody needs a different visa and you can’t just go to any land you want. So first they had to go to Paris. That’s why they panicked.

It’s not that important to see a First Lady, but I promised. And when you promise someone... When you promise somebody to do something, then you do it. I went to Africa just because I promised the Prince, so I had to go. And it cost me a lot of money, time, organization, nerves, and all kinds of “African style” in between. It was not easy, but I had promised; I had to go. So the same; I promised the First Lady through the secretary that I’ll come, so I had to come. So, I told the Prince, “I will change the plane.” Even if we had to take another plane to another country, sleep overnight in the airport, and then wait for the next available flight to Paris. If we don’t step out of the airport, we don’t need the visa, no problem.

And so, the Prince was very touched, as well as had difficulty in understanding why we were so insistent in consideration for other people before ourselves, before our own comfort. And he had also seen during the week, the two weeks we were with him everywhere, that we had endured a lot of hardship and we had gone through a lot of problems, just in order to keep our promise, as well as to please him. So he told me, “We don’t have to do that. You can just go. You are the guest. The First Lady is not as important as You; You just go.” I said, “No, we’ll see her.” But he asked me then, “Why?” I said, “Well, that is the way we live.” I said, “It’s not the initiation,” because he kept forcing me to give him initiation. And I didn’t say it’s him, but I said the princely people, the royal people, and the intellectual people are very proud. They need a long, long time before initiation. A long time training, a long time of learning about humility before initiation. I refused to give him initiation immediately. He just kept forcing and forcing.

So, taking the opportunity of his question, I told him, “You see, this is a way of life. Not the initiation, not the vegan diet, not the precepts, but it’s a way of living. Everyone who wants the initiation must be up to this standard, sacrificing ourselves for everybody else before our own comfort. And that is a way of life. It’s not the initiation alone.” I said to him, “This is a noble way of life. We have to be able to follow the precepts, like for example, the Ten Commandments in the Bible. You don’t just hear about it, you don’t just learn it by heart, but you live your life with it and you die for it. And you must keep a noble way of living. And that is the way of initiation. That is the way of sainthood. It’s not a forced initiation.” So I told him, “Do you understand?” He said yes, he does. But still, it takes time for some people to turn around. And we allow that. God allows time for everybody.

So, at the end, I stayed awake all night long to give initiation to him and another three people. Because I saw the First Lady at 9 o’clock, I came back at 10 o’clock and I had to feed him with vegan food until 12 o’clock and talk to him. And then at 1 o’clock, we began the meditation and it ended at 4 o’clock. And then he sat there and snored. And then, never mind, and we gave initiation to the other three people who sat very straight and were concentrated. But the one, the most forceful, the one who forced me all the way, slept all the way through. I tapped him and I told people to tap him, but he got up a little bit and then he slept again. I said, “OK, God’s Will.” And I had no time to stay there and wake him all the time. I had to pack my things after 4 o’clock. We had to leave at 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and then we had to be in the air at 8 o’clock, etc. So, that’s the problem. Pack and everything.

And anyhow, that’s what it is. He phoned me every day, nearly every half an hour, just for the initiation. He phoned me at 12 o’clock, he phoned me at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, he phoned me at 4 o’clock in the morning, 6 o’clock again, just to try to tell me how ready he is, and how he understands me, and he knows everything about me. Of course, he knows, but the thing he knows and the habit of the mind and the affinity with God are different things. He knows where I am, who I am. Not just the magical knowledge. Sometimes we know the flower. But to know and to enjoy are two different things. So I thought, “Ah, just wait. Later. First, eat vegan for a few weeks and then see how you experience it, and then later we’ll talk more.” But he always, always, always pushed. So in the end he received the initiation and then he slept, the whole time. But then afterwards, while meditating on the (inner Heavenly) Sound, we woke him up.

Then we woke him up at the time of the (inner Heavenly) Sound meditation, told him, “You sit there because you can’t sit here to meditate.” So, we sat him at the table and put him over there, and then he did it, but not very peacefully. The problem is he knows too much theoretically about spiritual practice, about God, about Master and about the Bible, about anything, but he did not practice. He knows everything. But knowing and practicing are two entirely different things. And because he knows too much, he’s proud. He’s satisfied with his intellectual knowledge, and he thinks he doesn’t need anything. That’s why. Are you done? That’s also God. So what happened? Are you done? (I don’t quite remember.) Everything OK? Have you finished translating? Did you understand? (Yes, we understood.) Finished, yes? OK, OK, good.
