(“It is said that Japan is destroying the rainforests, taking away the habitats of animal[-people] and plants, and that we are causing global warming. Is there a way to stop all of this? Is our karma [from this] very deep?”) It’s not just Japan; I told you already. People everywhere are the same. They are not aware of the dangers of harming themselves by harming the environment. So, this awareness of protecting the environment must be spread everywhere and the government must emphasize it, must use the power of their office to help to protect the environment, hence protecting ourselves. She just told me that we have only 10 more minutes so be fast.
The thing is, it’s not only people who cut down the forest; there are also fires, started by natural causes or by accidents, that destroy the forest. So every time you smoke a cigarette and you drive along the forest, don’t throw it out of the window. That probably could save thousands of acres from being burnt down. Even if we plant new trees, they don’t have the capacity to generate oxygen like the old trees which have been there for hundreds of years. Just like even though a child grows up the same height as the mother, he doesn’t have the wisdom of the mother, which accumulated with age.
(“I am a Christian, but I would like to know higher wisdom. May I be initiated?”) Oh, sure, sure. You don’t have to change your religion. Just go inside and see God.
(There are four consecutive questions. Question number one: “Is the Quan Yin Method the only one and the highest method?”) There’s only one way to go back to God and I’ll show you this way. You don’t have to call it Quan Yin, you can call it any other name. Just Quan Yin means we contemplate the Word of God within ourselves. And there’s only one God, so we contemplate only one God. There’s only one way. Some people call it Buddha Nature. It’s the same thing.
(“Are there any dangers to the Quan Yin Method?”) No, no, I’m still alive after 20 years.
(“Is it an illusion to think that peace is brought about by a peace movement?”) Peace movement? Well, it’s not completely. It helps. It helps when people voice their opinion. You mean the troops, the UN troops? It depends on what movement. If it’s a peaceful movement, it helps.
(“A very abstract, but a very simple question. ‘How can we love people?’”) By developing our true love, which is there before we are born and after we die. This true love will love people, not the brain who thinks it loves people. You force the brain to think that we want to love this person, that person. It’s impossible. But if we remember that there is a limitless love within ourselves, and that love will make us love people. We’ll be naturally love. That means get enlightenment. Awaken the Love of God within you. The compassionate Buddha Nature within you.
(“We only have five more minutes, and we have so many more questions remaining. For those questions which we could not answer now, the Center will be fully responsible for writing back and answering these questions.”) Yes, if they have the address? Yeah. OK. (“We will notify you about the address of the Center later on.”) Yes, that’s good.
(“Now, another abstract question. ‘From where and for what purpose have we human beings been born here?’”) This is a repeated question, not an abstract question. We answered this already.
(“Do we have to become a vegan to survive spiritually in this world? Why do we have to take the vegan way?”) To show the way of love, compassion. Just like now you asked a question about destroying the forest, taking away the habitat of the animal-people. And this is even good also for the environmental question. If we are vegan, we save a lot, a lot of land wasted just to raise animal-people. Because the land where we raise animal-people cannot be cultivated again for a long, long time – maybe up to 50 years. It’s wasted land. And we eat one cow-person – quickly finished – but it takes so long to raise him and takes so many minerals, takes so much food, takes so much water, takes so much medicine, takes so much land to cultivate animal-people. It is better if we use vegan food. It is good for spiritual[ity], good for our health, good for the world, good for the environment, good for the future of our children. And it’s compassionate – no blood on our table, no killing, no war with the helpless animal-people. These are some of the many aspects of the vegan diet, and I think the whole world should adopt this loving way of life. Very good. Thank you. Thank you to you.
(Now this is the last question. “In Judaism, you have the belief of the Messiah coming to this world. And in the Hindu religion, you have Lord Krishna. In Islam, you have Imam Mahdi. And in Christianity, you have the Second Coming of Christ. And in Buddhism, you have Maitreya. It is often said that these People are of the same Nature, but with different names. Supreme Master Ching Hai, how do You position such Maitreyas Who will be coming in the future? Or do You consider Yourself one of these Maitreyas?”) I don’t consider myself the Buddha. I know I am the Buddha, and I know you are also the Buddha. The question is not whether I am a Buddha or not, but whether you want to know that you are the Buddha or not. And that I can help you (with). It is very amazing that you sit there asking all these questions, when you have all the greatest Wisdom inside you. Just turn around – put your attention inward – then you will know that you are the Buddha. Put your attention back outward then you are a human being.
